The present edition of the mazurkas by Fryderik Chopin (1810–1849) is based ?n the complete works of the composer edited by Karol Mikuli (1821–1897), ? pupil and assistant of Chopin. The sources of Mikuli’s edition (completed in 1879) were unique. Those were, firstly, the composer’s manuscripts and, secondly, printed copies of his works, bearing marks put down by Chopin in teaching his pupils.
