Editors’ Note The present publication is based on P. Jurgenson’s edition (Piotr Tchaikovsky: Collected Works for Piano, vol. IV), revised and corrected by the author. In contrast to the numerous publications issued during the Soviet period, our edition restores the composer’s original titles of the pieces. We consider it important to remind musicians that Tchaikovsky subtitled the collection “In Imitation of Schumann” and so gave performers some clearly defined artistic aims.
